Cyprus Association of Osteopaths
The Work of the Cyprus Association of Osteopaths.
Over recent years, the Cyprus Association of Osteopaths has played a central role in the development and recognition of osteopathy as a regulated healthcare profession in the Republic of Cyprus.
Advancing regulation
The Association has worked consistently with the Ministry of Health, other health care associatons, national authorities and parliament members to support the establishment of a clear legal framework for osteopathy. Through commitment, organisation, dedication, dialogue and determination we contributed to the process that led to state recognition of the profession and the creation of structures for registration, professional accountability, and public protection under the Ministry of Health.
Our ongoing commitment is to assist the competent authorities in implementing regulation in a way that ensures safety, transparency, and high professional standards for patients.
Establishing professional standards
A key priority of the Association is the promotion of high-quality osteopathic practice. We support:
- appropriate education and recognised qualifications,
- ethical conduct and professional integrity,
- evidence-informed practice, and
- cooperation with other healthcare professionals.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Healthcare evolves, and so must practitioners. The Association regularly organises and supports continuing professional development activities, seminars, and educational events.
These initiatives help osteopaths:
- update clinical knowledge,
- refine practical skills,
- remain informed about new research, medical and osteopathic advances and techniques and
- maintain high levels of competence throughout their careers.
Promoting osteopathy in Cyprus
The Association actively works to increase awareness and understanding of osteopathy across the island. This includes engagement with the public, communication with healthcare partners, and representation of the profession within national and international networks.
Our goal is to ensure that people in Cyprus have access to safe, qualified osteopathic care and understand how osteopathy can contribute to musculoskeletal health and overall wellbeing.
Looking forward
We remain committed to supporting our members, collaborating with the Ministry of Health and in the future further strengthening the place of osteopathy within the Cypriot healthcare system.
