Regulation & Professional Standards in Cyprus

Osteopathy has been regulated as a healthcare profession since July 2020 under Law 2020 (N. 78(I) of 2020).

The title “osteopath” is protected by law in Cyprus; it is illegal to call yourself an osteopath unless qualified through an approved course and are registered with us.

Patients may self-refer to a registered osteopath and the profession is a first-contact health discipline.

Osteopathy in Cyprus

Osteopaths are private health care practitioners and are currently not in GESY. However our Registered Osteopaths’ treatments are covered by the main Private Insurances.

Osteopathy is a person-centred, whole-body health care discipline which regards the human being as a dynamic functional unit, whose body, mind and spirit are inter-related.

Osteopaths use manual contact to assess and treat structural and functional imbalances in the body. These treatments can be preventive, curative, palliative or adjunctive.

Osteopathy is recognised as an independent healthcare profession and is a primary-contact discipline in countries where it is regulated.
